When was the last time you looked through your business plan? If you haven’t had a look at it in the last 12 months it’s time to dust if off. Any business plan should be reviewed periodically in any business so that you are focused on the goals and targets that are set for the business. If you spend time writing up a business plan then you give it the importance it deserves.
Any organisation should review its business plan at least once a quarter. This is to check that you reached your targets. If you haven’t reached these targets then you need to find out why? This type of review will keep you focused on your goals and keep the business in the right direction. Remember if you don’t hit a target you are going to have to make up the difference in the next period. This means more work to generate more sales.
The business plan is a sales forecast. You should know how many new sales or value of sales you needs on a quarterly, monthly or even a weekly basis. Business is about sales and the more sales we have the more revenue we generate. By having the business plan in place we know all this information and we should be using it. It Is like taking a journey on an unfamiliar route. You know where your destination is but in order to get there you need a map. You need to stop every so often and check the map to make sure you are still on the right track. Otherwise you may have taken a wrong turn and are going in the wrong direction.
So if you haven’t reviewed your business plan lately, maybe it’s time to have a look and see that you are on course.
